I’ve used Roseville Landscape Material Supply before and service used to be great, but my recent experience was very disappointing. I ordered 4 yards of sand for delivery. They attempted delivery, but their call showed up as spam on my phone, so I never received it. When I called back, I was told it was not a problem and that I could come pick it up myself with my trailer at no additional charge. Based on that, I drove out with my trailer. When I arrived, I spoke to a different employee who told me I now had to either: • Pay for delivery again, or • Pay a restocking fee This completely contradicts what I was told earlier. I would not have made the trip if I knew there would be extra charges. It feels disorganized at best, or misleading at worst. Communication between staff is clearly not aligned, and the customer ends up paying for it. Very frustrating experience. I hope management improves consistency and accountability because the service has definitely declined.
I had a very disappointing experience with this place. Before ordering, I personally went to the store and checked the rock to make sure it was the right size. I specifically ordered 1/3 cobble rock based on what I saw there. However, when the truck delivered the material and dumped it in my driveway, I realized the rocks were much smaller and did not match what I had originally selected at the shop. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the load in the truck before it was dumped. At that point, I had no real option to refuse the delivery since the rocks were already blocking both my driveway and part of the road. I was forced to move forward and use the material in my landscaping. This experience felt very misleading, and I’m disappointed with the lack of consistency and transparency. I would not recommend this store.
edit to their reply - That is still $371 a yard at that price excluding tax. You lost a customer over the price, which is in my eyes gouging - but you have a right to set the price. The total interaction with your staff took about a minute, maybe two. No one helped me get it, there wasn't even a shovel offered or one to be found. Someone else who was there buying gravel, waiting to have a yard of it loaded felt so bad about watching someone fill buckets of gravel with their hands, that he came over and used his shovel to help me. On 2 cu ft of gravel you made what, 1/3 what you charge for a full yard? Which is 27 cu ft - and a full yard takes staff time, labor and equipment to load. Your profit was about equal after labor for 2 cu ft as it was for a yard. I see that as gouging, maybe you don't. We have bought there for several years, and would have bought more from you in the future, but not now. I can understand someone having to pay for a bag you must supply, and your staff's labor to fill it, but I was the labor and I provided the container. I guess I should have brought my own shovel too. All you did was take my money at 4X the price. Look at it this way - imagine you go to a gasoline station to buy gas for your car and they tell you that since you did not buy a full 20 gallons to fill the tank, you can't have it for $5 a gallon ($100 for a tank full), but rather you have to pay $22 a gallon for 2 gallons at $44 total. If you can't see that as a creating bad faith with your clients, I don't know what to say. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX really sad to see a business lose sight of their mission. A friend warned me that these folks were getting pricey. Used to be if you needed a little material, say a 5 gallon bucket to refresh the landscape, you could buy it at a reasonable price. Now they gouge you. A yard of a rock is $90. A yard is 27 cu ft. I needed 2 cu ft to refresh an area of rock I bought from them a couple years ago. They wanted $15 a cu ft. At that price, a yard would have been $371. That is gouging. I told them that they were charging me 4X the price because I wanted a small amount, and that I would not be back if they didn't come to a reasonable price. They said sorry and charged 4X what they sell it for. Then there was no shovel to move the rock. I had to use my hands to fill the buckets. Should have listened to my friend, at any rate, I am done with this place. I had their soil tested last year before buying any, and the lab told me not to use it unless I wanted to kill my plants.
