About NorCal Repairs — FAQ
Is NorCal Repairs a contractor or a referral service?
NorCal Repairs is a contractor connection service. We vet and connect homeowners with licensed, insured HVAC, plumbing, and roofing contractors across Northern California. All contractors in our network are independently licensed through the California State License Board (CSLB).
How do you vet your contractors?
Every contractor must hold an active CSLB license, carry minimum $1M general liability insurance, pass background checks, and maintain a 4.5+ star customer rating. We verify licenses and insurance annually and remove contractors who fall below our standards.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Every quote through NorCal Repairs is completely free with no obligation. You receive upfront pricing before any work begins, and there's never any pressure to commit.
What areas do you serve?
We serve 91+ cities across 24 counties in Northern California, from Redding in the north to Modesto in the south, and from the Gold Country foothills to the North Bay coast.
How quickly can I get connected with a contractor?
Our average response time is under 15 minutes during business hours. For emergencies (burst pipes, no AC during heat waves, active roof leaks), we offer 24/7 response with typical connection times of 30–60 minutes.
Do your contractors handle permits?
Yes. Our contractors pull all necessary permits and schedule required inspections as part of their service. Permit costs are included in project quotes, and all work meets California building codes and Title 24 energy standards.
Can you help with SMUD rebates?
Absolutely. Our SMUD-service-area contractors are experienced with rebate-qualifying installations and handle all rebate paperwork. Current SMUD rebates include up to $3,000 for heat pump HVAC and up to $4,000 for heat pump water heaters.
What if I'm not satisfied with the work?
All work performed through our network comes with contractor warranties (typically 1–2 years on labor, manufacturer warranties on parts). If an issue arises, contact us and we'll coordinate with the contractor to resolve it. We also help mediate disputes and can connect you with alternative contractors if needed.
