Junkcat

I just moved to El Cerrito and need some furniture as a new homeowner. My fiancée and I enjoy thrifting but most things are too expensive for our budget right now. I learned about Junkcat giveaways from a friend and now I’m hooked to look out for what just came in. Not everything fits my decor but it’s often close enough. What a cool business solving two problems for two people who’ll probably never meet. I have an old couch in good condition I’ll send to Junkcat when we finally upgrade from our apartment sized couch.

I love Junkcat! I found them on yelp, where they had great reviews. Nick was easy to schedule. He was communicative about his arrival time, when delayed by a citywide marathon. He and his assistant worked quickly and cleanly. I would definitely use them again! In particular, I had no idea that the sofa left behind by a tenant was not going to fit through the apartment door. When Nick and his assistant realized this, Nick got out an electric saw and expertly sawed the sofa into a few large pieces and viola, the sofa is gone. I never would have had the skills or tools to manage getting out that sofa. And of course there were other large items to carry out of the apartment, down the porch steps, into his truck and to the dump. He charged me a flat fee of $250, I think that is their minimum, and it was worth every penny. No fuss, no muss. I loved how easy it was to get rid of these things within just one hour, when it would have taken me a couple weekends to do. I will definitely use them again!

Junkcat did an excellent job and I would use their services again in a heartbeat. Nick responded to my quote request within 10-15 minutes. He asked for pictures of what needed to be removed, promptly gave me a clear and fair quote, and said Junkcat could do the job the very next afternoon He gave me a two-hour window, and on the day of, he also gave me a 10 minute heads-up before arrival. He and his two assistants took apart and removed a sofa bed plus a cubic yard of random stuff in about 15-20 minutes. They were careful, clean, and professional.
