My friend gifted me this clean and was charged $600 for a move-in deep clean. For those who don’t know, a move-in deep clean means the home is empty, and everything gets cleaned.. inside and out. Outside cabinets and inside. Outside the fridge & inside. Outside the stove and inside. Blinds are wet-wiped, not dusted. Surfaces are scrubbed even if they appear clean. You treat everything like it’s dirty so there’s no room for error. You get the idea. As someone who has owned & sold a successful cleaning business, both residential and commercial, I feel like I know a thing or two about cleaning. So let me tell you what happened. One person came to look at my three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home, no more than 2,000 sq ft. He said he had a team of four coming shortly. Great, I thought. Was the home perfect? No. Was it horribly dirty? Absolutely not! Especially by professional deep-clean standards. This clean was all about attention to detail, which unfortunately this company completely lacks. From the floors, to the glass, all the way down to the very few blinds in the home.. nothing met deep-clean standards. And when I say very few blinds, I mean I just got this place. There are at least six windows with no blinds at all. Easy enough, right? Well, the only window with blinds that were actually dirty didn’t get touched at all. I will attach a picture. The other blinds? Just a quick dust. No wet wipe. No double check. Nothing. For $600, that is simply ridiculous. Did I mention there were TEN CLEANERS in my home? Ten. I genuinely thought I was walking into something amazing, the fresh smell of Pine-Sol or all-purpose cleaner. Instead, it smelled like cat. It was rushed. The “team” was very clearly on a time crunch. To me, it felt like they walked the home, agreed on a set amount of time, and thought, “We gotta hurry! I don’t want to pay my cleaners for another hour.” And they scurried out. No walkthrough. No goodbye. Nothing. Completely unprofessional. It wasn’t even a proper mop, just a rag on a stick. For $600? Please. This cannot be real. Now you might be wondering, did I contact them? Absolutely. Even though at that point it was clear this wouldn’t be done correctly. I showed them a photo of the sliding glass door that was clearly dirty. They offered to come back. Great… I guess? But the issue wasn’t just the glass. Multiple things were missed, things that simply do not justify $600. I didn’t want bad cleaners coming back to “finish” a job. I wanted the price reduced to what the clean actually deserved. This much lack of attention to detail isn’t an accident. After all of this, I had a new cleaner come look at the place. The first thing they said when they walked in was, “Someone cleaned this?” The sliding glass door still wasn’t properly cleaned! Mind you, this was after the original company had already come back. That says everything. This is exactly my point: attention to detail. Just because a rag touches a surface doesn’t mean it’s clean. As she was leaving, they offered a monthly clean at “half off”—originally $140, now $70. Why would I want that? No thanks. Then I went upstairs to the master bedroom (one of the only room with blinds) & saw they weren’t wet-wiped at all! I contacted them again. This time they said they wanted to “make it right” and would come back free of charge, plus offer 15% off. Gee, thanks? As if 15% justifies the clean I received. I know cleanings. This house was $350–$400 MAX. I’m not cheap, which is why I agreed to the $600, but I should’ve trusted my instinct. Pictures attached are just an example of how simply clear it is that the work isn’t $600. Don’t get me started on the floors and counters. I can go on and ON about this. But I rather not waste my time. Just like they didn’t bother to waste time on my home. Do not book with these people. Save your money. Pay yourself. Edited Same-day service does not change the definition of a move-in deep clean. Urgency does not excuse missed fundamentals. A deep clean is priced & sold based on detail & thoroughness, not speed.
We recently hired HomeShine Cleaning to clean one of our properties in Davis, CA, and they did an outstanding job! From start to finish, the process was smooth and professional. Our point of contact, Ulysses, provided excellent customer service—clear communication, punctual, and very detail-oriented. The property looked spotless and move-in ready when they were done. I highly recommend HomeShine Cleaning for all your residential or rental cleaning needs!
