Armstrong Carpet and Linoleum Company

This review was delayed due to my busy schedule. But I wanted to spend the time to share my 5 star experience with Armstrong Carpet & Linoleum Co. in the West Portal Neighborhood. They and their staff provided EXCELLENT information, customer service, professional work, a fantastic floors. The person we worked with was Andrew but all the other staff were very helpful on the days he was not there. They replied promptly to the emails as well. This past January, my family needed new floors because they moved to the Peninsula with tiles and pink carpets. They were wary about using vinyl flooring and relying on stores like Home depot or Costco because the subcontractors they hire vary each time. We were referred to Armstrong by another similar small flooring business who only does projects in Marin County. It was the best recommendation I have ever received because we met with Andrew who spent an hour explaining the pros and cons of vinyl wood flooring. They knew their trade and provided service with confidence, transparency and kindness. They know how to work with the HOA swiftly and professionally. Armstrong were so organized that they replied quickly. My family loves the new vinyl wood flooring (Gaia-sandollar) which look beautiful. The floors feel warm and look like real wood. Other people and vendors have given positive comments. They work efficiently and they do not hire other subs. They have installers that work for them which makes a huge difference. I have recommended Armstrong flooring to all my friends. I wished I knew about them when I needed wood flooring many years ago but I will use them in the future. If you are need of flooring, go visit them to gather the information objectively. You will not be disappointed. This business knows their trade but they are provide service without an attitude. Kudos to Andrew and their staff/floor installers!! Most importantly, my family is really happy.

The Armstrong Carpet team is the BEST! I have done four projects in my house with them during the past 3 years. Recently they accomplished a huge project to replace 45-year-old carpet in six furnished rooms! Andrew was so patient and helpful in the process of my choosing what I wanted and taking accurate measurements. It was awesome to watch the installers maneuver furniture to alternate spaces and later return the pieces to their proper places. They were courteous, careful and diligent, and the finished work is perfection. What a joy to have my house refreshed in such a wonderful way!

We bought a rug from Armstrong, manufactured by a third party. It arrived on time, but unfortunately it smelled like mildew - very strongly. We contacted Armstrong to let them know, and they immediately contacted the manufacturer, who claimed the rug was shipped in good condition. Despite of this, Chris from Armstrong took the time to come to our home on a weekend (1hr drive) to validate this issue, confirmed the smell was not normal, and committed to doing whatever they could to solve the problem, either replace it, or have it professionally cleaned, regardless of if they could recoup the costs from the third party. This approach was so appreciated - it is so rare in today’s business world that people actually stand behind their products, and take responsibility for issues. This family owned business still values its word and its clients, even when the manufacturer does not stand behind its products. Long story short, we have our rug, it doesn’t smell, we paid only the original price for the rug and the shipping. They came out to us twice, once to take the smelly rug away, and once to bring it back. They made it so easy. We will shop with Armstrong whenever we can, and for any products they sell. We cannot recommend this family business any more positively. Love them!
