I hired Magic Construction to completely renovate the downstairs level of my home which is rented out and was extremely happy with both the process and the final result. The project involved removing partition walls and doors to create a large open studio space, upgrading the ceiling with additional insulation and thicker drywall for sound reduction, finishing the garage with new drywall and paint, cleaning up old wiring, installing new flooring, painting throughout, adding modern lighting, and building a kitchenette/coffee bar area. What stood out most was Slav's ability to solve problems and adapt as the project evolved. As we opened up walls and ceilings, we encountered several challenges, including load-bearing posts, exposed pipes, and other existing features that couldn’t be moved. Instead of treating these as problems, he found creative ways to work around them and incorporate them into the design. He built custom shelves and niches around structural elements, making the space more functional while maintaining a clean, modern look. He was also an excellent resource when it came to design and material decisions. He helped me select the right drywall, molding, baseboards, lighting, flooring materials, and other finishes, which saved me a tremendous amount of time and helped ensure everything worked well together. His recommendations were practical, cost-effective, and blended some original features of the home with the open airy style I was trying to achieve. The quality of the workmanship was excellent. He paid attention to details, making sure ceilings and flooring were level and finished properly, redoing portions that weren't to his standard. He even recommended additional flooring underlayment to improve durability and long-term performance, even though it created more work for him. The upgraded ceiling insulation and drywall noticeably reduced sound transfer between floors, which was one of my main goals for the project. Throughout the renovation, he was highly responsive, communicative, and easy to work with. He kept me informed, answered questions quickly, and was patient whenever we needed to adjust the scope or make design changes. I always felt comfortable discussing options and knew he was focused on finding practical solutions rather than creating additional costs or complications. I also appreciated that he coordinated specialized work appropriately and focused on delivering a high-quality finished product. Toward the end of the project, he went above and beyond by offering additional services to with many of the finishing details, including blinds, doorknobs, mounting items, and other small tasks that made the space truly move-in ready. By the time he was done, all I really had left to do was clean and furnish the room. The finished studio is now a bright, spacious, comfortable, and highly functional rental space that significantly improved both the usability and value of my home. Slav has been helping us with various projects for over a year, and every job has been top-notch. We had a horrible experience with contractors remodeling our kitchen, and Slav saved the project. He re-caulked surfaces, installed new cabinet doors and handles, cut and installed custom-sized shelves, and fixed the plumbing under our kitchen sink.
