We wanted to convert a 3500sf lawn at the rear of our property into a bocce court with flower beds and gravel paths. Although I had contacted several landscape contractors, few followed through with estimates after viewing the project! It was by chance that I came across Jesse’s business card at the local Green Acres nursery in Auburn. After Jesse viewed the project he submitted a very reasonable bid within a few days! I was impressed with Jesse’s use of cardboard under the mulch within the planting areas! This technique, known as sheet mulching, is considered ecologically beneficial. Jesse also used state of the art drip irrigation under the mulch. For selection and design of the planting beds, we decided to have Jesse’s sister, Chelsea, owner of Sweetgrass Gardens, provide a design drawing incorporating Mediterranean plants. We were very impressed by Jesse’s use of a drone overhead photo of the landscape was used as a template for the plan of which Chelsea placed the plants! The drone was utilized again upon completion of the planting for a final update of the planting design. After all the plants were installed, Jesse applied a compost tea to each plant which is akin to a natural fertilizer. In addition to the planting beds and extensive laying of gravel paths, Jesse also built a 2 post pergola next to the bocce court. The pergola turned out to be beautiful! Jesse’s carpentry skills are truly incredible! We highly recommend Jesse and Chelsea for any landscape project! You won’t be disappointed!
