We had a scary issue with our fairly new heater: a strong melted-plastic smell filled the house, and my air quality monitor showed PM2.5 spiking above 36—way higher than the usual dust or dirt odor. I was genuinely worried the house might catch fire. A friend recommended RK Mechanical Air Services, so I called them. Eugene responded right away and was able to come out within 24 hours. He took his time doing a thorough inspection and quickly pinpointed the problem: a short in the blower motor that was causing the burning plastic smell. The issue was buried deep inside the unit, but he found it. He tracked down an exact replacement motor—one happened to be available in San Jose—and had it couriered over. It arrived the very next day. With my okay, Eugene came back that same evening and swapped out the motor. Just like that, we had heat again right before Christmas. What an incredible save! I can’t say enough about Eugene’s knowledge, professionalism, and commitment. He went above and beyond, working late to make sure we were taken care of. RK Mechanical Air did an amazing job completely replacing the AC units and handling the regular maintenance at my restaurant in El Dorado Hills. Having worked with plenty of HVAC companies over the years, I can confidently say these guys are a real gem. Had an issue with my Trane XL80 heater and gave RK a call, because they are located in my area. Mike send out a technician the same day to diagnose the problem. Eugene noticed the the blower motor was bad and needed to be replaced. I paid 50% the next day and the motor was ordered. Two days later Eugene came again and replaced the motor. He did an outstanding job. One day later Mike called again to check if all is OK. In summery outstanding communication and very professional work. I thought the price was on the high side, but I am not able to compare it to other businesses. Thanks, Peter
