10 out of 10 and exceeded our expectations. We had a deck put in our backyard 3 years ago and used the wrong waterproofing stain. It was acrylic based so I would apply a coat or 2 every year due to normal wear/tear and weather conditions. Most recently, there was a few high foot traffic areas where the paint was chipping off. After doing some research, what we should have used is at least a semi transparent and oil based stain. I attempted to remove the old stain myself with the Behr stain stripper and heavy duty deck brush, but quickly realized the job was too big for me and we needed to hire a professional. We found Hayward Pro on a Google search and asked for an estimate to remove the old stain and prep everything for re-staining with the correct oil based waterproofing stain. Rafael came promptly for a quote and we hired him to complete the work needed. We were very impressed and extremely happy with his work. Him and his team also built fencing to a portion of the yard/deck that was missing it along with a custom gate. Also due to normal wear and tear along with weather conditions over the past 3 years, there were some small areas of the deck where it felt a bit loose here and there. Rafael took it upon himself to tighten up all the screws on the deck and it not only look brand new again with the sanding and staining, but it also feels brand new again. Highly recommend Rafael and Hayward Pro if you need to put in a deck, need custom wood work or even fixing or repainting a deck. We will definitely use them again for future projects.

I don't usually take the time to leave reviews, but in this instance I felt it important to do so. I recently used Hayward Pro to replace a 30 year old redwood deck with a new composite deck. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Rafael and his team did an excellent job and followed my specifications exactly. The customer service and responsiveness was outstanding, and the quality of their work superior. I will definitely use them for projects in the future.

After seeing what Rafael has built as replacement of our old deck, we recommend him without ANY reservation. Our deck project required a lot of complicated engineering and design skill to work with our requirements. This was not a simple build. It also had to be able to survive well in the salt air of the Coastside so we required stainless steel for all connections. During the build, we were impressed to see the excellent engineering and strength of the support structure he built. Rafael handled the Azek decking in the exactly the way we requested, and provided design solutions along the way that improved upon what we had originally requested. He built a beautiful custom wood railing and gave it thorough priming and painting. In addition to the beauty of the finished deck, Rafael gave us what we have not enjoyed from any other contractor--excellent, timely communication. We have now experienced the superior skill and care that Rafael gives to a difficult project, and we are impressed and grateful.
