Unprofessional behavior and serious safety concerns. I parked on the street next to the Napa Library where a section of the road was under active construction. At the time, the area was only covered with metal plates—there were no signs indicating that work would be taking place or that parking was restricted. When I returned to my car with my 10-month-old in a stroller, I found it blocked in by a large truck and an excavator. Four workers stood nearby, and one was actively operating the machinery. I politely asked if they could pause their work momentarily so I could safely load my baby into the car and pull away. Although they initially agreed, the excavator resumed operating as I approached. I asked again, and again they agreed—only to continue working. When I directly addressed the operator and asked him to stop, he dismissively threw up his hands and said, “I’m not even close to you,” and refused to stop. The lack of regard for basic safety, especially around a parent with a small child, was incredibly upsetting. This situation could have easily been avoided if appropriate signage had been posted warning not to park in that area due to active work. The only positive aspect of the experience was the response from the office. I called their receptionist immediately afterward, hands still shaking, and although I initially reached voicemail, I received a call back within minutes. The person I spoke with was apologetic and assured me that a manager would be dispatched to speak to the crew. I appreciated the quick response and hope it leads to better safety practices moving forward.

Whoever is in charge of these workers, please control your employees. They are currently in Rio Linda and our neighborhood just experienced a pretty bad fire. Residents cannot get in or out of the neighborhood, not even in an emergency. There are no signs regarding a detour. Nobody is Conducting traffic. Workers all stand around and mock us, make rude comments to, and from our commute to work and school every morning now. It’s exhausting. I know this is a pretty huge company but I can’t get over how unprofessional the workers are.
